Doug Paterson stars in '2020 Sad Santa, Mad Santa'
On Festivus 2020, in Michael Korican's short holiday poem '2020 Sad Santa, Mad Santa', Santa ruminates about the pandemic in British Columbia, our collective experience of it and how he can deliver Christmas this year.
This is Doug Paterson's first starring role.
Director Michael Korican first met Doug in the hot tub at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre ten months into the COVID-19 pandemic. When he learned Doug was Santa, he knew he had to make a sequel to his holiday film, 'Sad Santa, Glad Santa.' Michael adapted the classic poem 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' and the two further modified it to better reflect Santa's reputation. The pair produced two versions of the poem: with and without guitar strumming by Doug.
